It is with the greatest regret that The Royal London Show announces that it will not take place at Peterborough this year. Due to circumstances beyond our control the management of the East of England Showground have decided not to honour our verbal contract and we are forced to seek other accommodation for the 2010 Show.

However, we have been more than fortunate in obtaining a new home in the Midlands at the Onley Grounds Equestrian Complex, near Rugby in Warwickshire. While the facilities are not yet of the standard of Peterborough, it is a work in progress and we are proud to be part of the development of this exciting new site.  A new indoor school more than capable of taking the Evening Performances of Royal London, an excellent clubhouse offering restaurant facilities together with a comprehensive bar, a cafe for those moments when a cup of tea and a bacon roll are imperative, brand new showers and toilet blocks and a new horsebox park will ensure that the creature comforts of our competitors are well catered for. Outside grass rings are of the highest standards, carefully maintained and beautifully surfaced.  A stewards room and medical room are already booked and Andrea has a spot picked out where you can easily find her to make your entries!

A further new indoor school is planned which is even bigger than the one already on site. Permanent stabling is envisaged together with  further all weather surfaces. All these facilities are for the future, but for the 2010 Royal London Show we are confident that our competitors will not be disappointed.

Come and join us for the Royal London experience and be part of this exciting new project!

New rules for hats

As a result of all the valuable input we have received, we have decided to bow to public opinion, and the Royal London rules have changed as follows:

Children 16 and under should wear proper 3-strap hats AT ALL TIMES including the evening performance, both ridden and in hand.

Anyone over this age, i.e. 17 and over, who wishes to wear a non-BSI hat at any time, wil need to sign a disclaimer at the secretary's office - you wil then be given a HAT DISCLAIMER card, which you will need to show on entry to your ring. You WILL be stopped if you are not wearing a BSI hat.

No Disclaimer card = no entry, or change your hat.

Qualification

We would like to clarify the following point, which seems to have confused some people.

If you have qualified your horse/pony for Royal London, you can then enter any classes you wish. You only need ONE qualification card per horse, you DO NOT need a separate card for each class.

For example: (A) you have an Arab/Welsh, and you have qualified in a show hunter pony class. You may ALSO ENTER the Part Bred Arab classes, both ridden and in hand, and also the Part Bred Mountain & Moorland classes if you wish. And if it also a palomino, then there's the palomino etc. classes.

Example (B) you have a skewbald registered Shetland pony, which has qualified in a Shetland class. You may also enter the Mountain & Moorland classes, the Piebald/Skewbald classes, and the Miniature Horse "Draught Type" classes if you wish.

And of course any of these qualified horses/ponies can be entered in Young Handlers, and the Concours classes in the evenings, for which they DO NOT have to be qualified.

We hope this helps!

Royal London Show Office

We regret that we are unable to man our office at all times - we also have horses to do. We do try to answer your queries at all hours, but please try not to ring before 8 in the morning or after 10 at night. If we should be out when you phone, PLEASE DO leave a message on our landline (01425) 471680. We will then be able to deal with your query when we return. Our mobiles do not work at home, only when we are out and about; if you do not leave a message anywhere, then we will not be able to help you. Alternatively, you may email your query via this website and we will reply as soon as we can. Forgive us if it sometimes takes a couple of days, our office at this time of the year is very very busy. Please work with us - I know we all want to have a successful show in September, and if you have a query, then we DO want to help you.
